Sid Huett our head kennel hand is all signed up for Julie Collier's 'Fall For Hounds' Sky dive pencilled in for June and will be looking for sponsors over the next few months. I'm afraid I'm scared of heights and will not be signing up but will be making a massive effort over the next few months to get him well sponsored,

It's a very busy time on the track for the kennel at the moment and we are in the middle of two big competitions and with the £200,000 to the winner William Hill Derby just around the corner it's an exciting one as well. Having bagged a few competitions already this year the pressure does seem to be off to a certain degree but we are still hungry to lift some more silverware and none more so than the Derby.
The Pinpoint Recruitment Arc at Swindon reaches the semi-final stage this Wednesday and both Blackstone Marco and Benkaat Nero are capable of making the Category 1 final a week Wednesday. In the heats Blackstone Marco didn't run as well as we would like but still qualified comfortably and trap 3 in the semi might be more to his liking. Benkaat Nero ran a blinder to finish third in a hot heat and trap 1 in his semi is perfect. Garryglass Rodge was desperate to be eliminated from the heats when beaten a short head for third.
Over at Henlow in the Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup semi-finals we had some difficult draws and so it proved for Ayamzamodel, Blonde Razor and Adageo Brae who couldn't overcome their handicaps. Jazz Tilly was ultra impressive in winning her semi by 7 lengths in 33.34. It's a competitive final for next Sunday but the draw in trap 2 will give Tilly a good chance of adding this Category 2 title to her recent Monmore Ladbrokes Festival Stayers crown.
The Category 1 Coral Regency also kicks off this week and a few are predicting a small entry because Farloe Tango and reigning champion Fear Emoski will be in the draw. I can't see it myself and I have no problem in entering the improving Lightning Zeus and last year's finalist Sidaz Dippy. Hometown Honey is still not in season and likes it at Hove and will be entered as well.
Good to hear Chris Page's views on RPGTV last night, a top class Racing Manager who's enthusiasm for the new Towcester project is infectious. It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few months. I for one think it will be a breath of fresh air our industry badly needs. I also hear on the grapevine meetings with the bookmakers (including Betfair) and the GBGB are shortly about to take place with the Deloites report on the table, watch this space!
At Nottingham on Monday Adageo Bob was made a warm favourite to land his heat of the Truframe Greyhound Stud Book but was carted off the track at the first bend and despite coming from over 15 lengths off the pace just failed to qualify for the final. Reel Trickyone in a 500m race also ran on well to finish a close up third.
At Hove on Thursday no winners but some good performances from Lightning Zeus and Sidaz Dippy who were both second in two Regency trial stakes to the formidable pair of Fear Emoski and Farloe Tango. Darian Star ran well when third in a warm Ladies race.
On Friday afternoon the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc saw both Blackstone Marco and Benkaat Nero qualify for the semi-finals and it was an excellent night at Romford where 5 of our 7 runners won. Evanta Jack was brave in winning a puppy open in 24.65, Cornamaddy Jumbo took off to destroy his hurdle rivals and win by a wide margin in a fantastic 24.21, both Adageo Bob (35.26) and Reel Trickyone (35.18) put Monday's disappointment behind them when bolting up over 575m while the relentless star Hometown Honey galloped her rivals into the ground en route to winning a 750m in 47.39. Veteran Aayamzaman was desperately unlucky in a 400m when stumbling out the traps and then made up some incredible ground to not get beat far in third, a great night for the kennel.
At Henlow on Sunday as well as the Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup as said above Aero Babooshka made a fine debut for the kennel taking a 460m in good style in a fine 27.71, Blue Moment was a close up 4th in a very hot 460m Standard.
Some new pups and runners on the card on Saturday night. Evanta Fantasy (3rd) Gigawatt (2nd), Saffrons Champ (3rd) and Evanta Milan (2nd) all ran well while there were wins for Rosealinda in an A2 on her Yarmouth debut in 28.06 and the improving pup Benkaat Panther who led at the third bend to go on and score well from kennelmate Reel Bliss in 28.38.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
On Wednesday the semi-finals of the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc at Swindon are tough but we are hopeful of good runs from Blackstone Marco and Benkaat Nero.
The start of the Coral Regency at Hove on Thursday will see a decent entry from our kennel with Sidaz Dippy, Hometown Honey and Lightning Zeus.
We will be at Romford on Friday and on Sunday the Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup Final takes centre stage with Jazz Tilly drawn in trap 2.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Blackstone Marco our selection for the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc will need to step up to make the final a week Wednesday but is well capable of doing so. I thought Benkaat Nero ran a very good race in his heat and is trading at 33/1 and could easily make the final, he is worth a small wager.
Our Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup at Henlow selections are down to one runner in Jazz Tilly but we can still be confident of making a profit as she has a great draw in trap 2.
The Coral Regency at Hove kicks off this Thursday and we know that Farloe Tango and Fear Emoski will be short prices but there could be plenty of each way value to be had with both Sidaz Dippy and Lightning Zeus. Hometown Honey is difficult to include as she is way overdue to come in season.
