Sid Huett our head kennel hand is all signed up for Julie Collier's 'Fall For Hounds' Sky dive pencilled in for June and will be looking for sponsors over the next few months. I'm afraid I'm scared of heights and will not be signing up but will be making a massive effort over the next few months to get him well sponsored,

I've stated in the past that Holdem Spy is my favourite four bend greyhound outside of our kennel and he duly won the Ladbrokes Scottish Derby on Saturday night at Shawfield in his usual enigmatic and brilliant manner. Ever since I saw a young Holdem Spy strutting his stuff at Coventry in good class opens I was impressed with his attitude and pace and his knack of finding a way to win when victory sometimes seemed unlikely. Superbly trained by Carol Weatherall he could yet play a big part in the forthcoming William Hill Derby which is now less than three weeks away.
I'm just beginning to finalise our Derby plans and we are looking likely to have about half a dozen going into the first round draw. Aero Nemesis looks to have recovered from a small muscle injury that kept him out the Arc and we will be aiming to get at least a couple of trials into him before the start if the classic, Blackstone Marco never seemed to handle Swindon and was eliminated in the Arc semi finals on Wednesday and will now head straight to Wimbledon for a couple of confidence boosting trials, Garryglass Rodge is beginning to run into some good form and will be a popular and lively outsider. El Flutter may have been beaten last night at Sittingbourne on his debut for our kennel but he could be a surprise package when he gets race fit, he has some decent lines of form from Ireland. Benkaat Nero lines up in a competitive Arc final on Wednesday, a great achievement after coming back from two broken metacarpals last summer, and he will head to Wimbledon and could go further than last year's third round effort, others may be added to our team.
Jazz Tilly had no luck at the first bend when badly crowded in last night's Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup final at Henlow and her chance of winning disappeared but she still ran a huge race to finish second behind Daren Whitton's Racey Thunder. After all our brilliant final successes over the last six months our luck has just deserted us slightly but who knows Benkaat Nero might put that right on Wednesday.
As said Benkaat Nero did well to qualify for the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc final at Swindon on Wednesday when running on well after first bend trouble to grab second place while Blackstone Marco was only 4th in his semi final.
At Hove on Thursday Lightning Zeus couldn't go with the pace in the heats of the Coral Regency and was eliminated while Hometown Honey was only 4th in a hot heat but Sidaz Dippy did qualify when a staying on 3rd. Wins for Darian Star over 515m and Garryglass Rodge over 475m made the trip worthwhile.
On Friday at Romford 5 runners saw Aero Twizzle come 3rd in a hot sprint and Evanta Evita made a good return from season when 3rd in a warm 400m bitches race. Aayamzamodel made sure we didn't go home without a winner when beating Smiler Jack over 575m in 35.45 (+20).
Not too much luck on Sunday - Jazz Tilly a brave second in the featured final and both Benkaat Blue and Reel Trickyone were 3rd while at Sittingbourne both El Flutter and Murlens Crash were odd on losers in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
On Saturday undoubtedly the star of the show was Benkaat Panther who completed a hat trick when winning a top grade event in 28.38. Evanta Candyman also won well after leading in A3 grade and recorded a fine 28.20.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
Tonight at Romford the heats of the Steve Simmonds Easter Bunny Trophy sees our usual suspects bid to make Friday's final and on Wednesday it's big race time as Benkaat Nero bids to land the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc at Swindon - we have the likes of Garryglass Rodge and Aero Twizzle on the card.
The Coral Regency reaches the semi final stage on Thursday and Sidaz Dippy flies the flag for the kennel in a bid to repeat last year's performance and make final.
We will be back to Romford Friday, and other plans will be pencilled in tomorrow for the rest of the week.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Jazz Tilly coming second at Henlow was a blow but we still have Benkaat Nero at 33's in this Wednesday's Arc final and Sidaz Dippy in the a Regency semi final though that will be tough. For a bet this week we will have to play Garrglass Rodge at Swindon, he was unlucky in the heats of the Arc and ran well at Hove last week.
