We have been a little bit quiet since we had a good night at Wimbledon on the Derby supporting card but this week we came back with a bang with a plethora of open race winners. The week started on Tuesday for us with a brilliant Sky card at Nottingham where our little Domino Storm ran her heart out to finish a very good 3rd behind the awesome Swift Hoffman in the prestigious Betfred Select Stakes. On the supporting card Aero Babooshka just found the 500m a bit stiff when 2nd and I certainly can't agree with comments that she was waiting when briefly her superb middle pace took her to the front at the 4th bend. Adageo Bob was a very unlucky 3rd over an inadequate 500m trip and in form Aayamzamodel showed us a front running masterclass in a good quality 680m, her time of 41.67 was the fastest of the year so far.
On Thursday at Hove Reel Shirty produced a surprise when landing his semi final of the Sussex Cup. Showing great early pace he led up and outstayed King Dec to win in 30.02. To the eye this looked a quicker run but he was about 2 1/2 lengths slower than the other two semis so he still has to improve again to be in with real shout though his draw in trap 6 with 4 rails red and a middle seed is a dream draw in the final this coming Thursday.
On Friday at Romford we reeled off five open race winners with Evanta Fantasy the pick when she returned back to her best winning the top division of the 400m in a stunning 23.75.
On Saturday at Towcester on one of the best cards of the year we bagged another four open wins along with three graded wins to complete a brilliant night. Star of the show was undoubedbly Lord Hesketh's Ribble Atom who won the top division of the TV Trophy Trial stakes in a thrilling race with Bubbly Time where Atom just got the better of her rival on the sprint to the line and setting a new track record of 55.46. With only two weeks to go before the heats of the Marathon event she has put herself up there as a live contender.
Ribble Atom's track record means we hold all the track records now at Towcester with:-
270m - Cloudbursting - 15.00
480m - Domino Storm - 27.84
655m - Billys Bullet - 38.90
680m - Vanrooney. - 40.97
906m - Ribble Atom - 55.46
Domino Storm made a quick reappearance after Tuesday's Select Stakes and was so gutsy winning again in a 480m and she will no doubt be one of the favourites for the Lowther Stakes which also starts in two weeks' time. She will head a strong team from our kennel which will also include Evanta Evita (trialled well yesterday), Evanta Fantasy, Aero Babooshka, Patchys Kerry and Saturday's impressive winner Airforce Duchess.
As said last week we have some lovely pups on our For Sale page and we will have some more new ones each month. Any interested parties should be quick though as they are selling fast.
With all the winners this week the 5 To Follow should see some dramatic changes. 'Angels Lil Wings' topped the list after the first three weeks with 65 point. Unforeseen circumstances has seen a well selected dog Blonde Nipper leave the kennel but I'm afraid that's the way it goes and those with him in the team will have to wait until October 1st to change him although he could well come back to us if he gets knocked out of the Irish Derby.
As said it was an excellent week overall for our open races with Aayamzamodel winning over 680m on Tuesday's Sky card at Nottingham and Reel Shirty winning his semi final of the Coral Sussex Cup at Hove on Thursday. New intake Patchys Kerry also qualified for the bitches comp when a good runner up in her heat.
On Friday at Romford as well as the impressive Evanta Fantasy winning in a blistering 23.75 we had wins for Black Francis (35.90) in the Dual Distance heats over 575m and Swift Whirlwind stepped up to the sharp six bends very well winning in a good 35.61. What A Laugh popped up again winning in 24.26 and Jimmy Nailed On ran well from behind to complete a great night scoring in 35.68.
Ribble Atom took the plaudits on Saturday night at Towcester winning the top division of the TV Trophy trial stake in a track record 55.46 but Sosaidhs Blue was outstayed by Lodge Lady in the other division with a plugging on Aero Harrison 3rd. Ballymac Sinbad bounced back to form over 480m winning well in 28.00, Domino Storm returned from the select stakes to produce a gutsy win in 28.18 and Aayamzamodel made it a superb three wins in 8 days when scoring well in a fast 39.18.
On Friday it was a tough night for our graders with heavy rain all night long but it didn't seem to bother Cisberry Geo who won well in 28.67.
On Saturday a much better night weather wise and winners wise as along with our four open race victories there was a D1 triumph for Airforce Karla in 15.56. Libertine Dandy beat kennel mate Rufford Attom in a warm 480m in 28.53 while Airforce Duchess was most impressive taking an A4 by 6 lengths in a good 28.21.
Energise Master won a D3 on Sunday in 15.90 while Ilewin Sleepy was narrowly beaten in an A5. Nimrod Son and Saffrons Roxsy were also just beaten into second.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
On Thursday Reel Shirty bids to land the Sussex Cup at Hove live on Sky and we will have a few supporting runners.
We will be at Romford on Friday with Black Francis in the 750 final of the Dual Distance final.
On Saturday the August leg of the Premier League takes place at Towcester with the last batch of TV Trophy Trial Stakes.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Ribble Atom did the business in the TV Trophy trial stake obliging at 9/4, of course having done my recommendations early I didn't realise Sosaidhs Blue would be 2/5 on and then got beat.
Reel Shirty is surely the best drawn dog on Thursday's Sky card in the final of the Sussex Cup and has to be worth an interest at 8/1. He has got 2-3 lengths to find on the field but it's sure to be a fast track which will suit him if he comes out in his best style and sweeps around in front.
