Thanks to everybody who logged on to the website last week.
We have had a fantastic response and the feedback that we
have had has been very, very positive.
A big thank you to Mick Licence who put the idea to me and
has put the work in and to Julie Orford for the design work
on the site.
Over the next few weeks we will be using the feedback from
you to further improve the site.
At the moment I am in Dublin and have been playing in the
Irish Poker Open which has prize money of well over Euro
2 million with all of the best players from Europe and some
from the USA. With over 708 entries I played the best I could
but after beating 634 players I was unluckily knocked out
late on Saturday night in 74th position (72 places paid!).
It has been a bit like our dogs this week - close but not
quite getting there at the finish. But it has been a great
experience and really enjoyable to take part.
OPEN RACING
Tuesday night saw ROSWELL STARSHIP finish a gallant 3rd
in the PALL MALL at Oxford behind the Harry Redknapp owned
and Charlie Lister trained Ballymac Charley. Despite missing
his break our fella gave a brave performance and looks sure
to play a part in plenty of big finals for the rest of the
year.
On the supporting card that night EYE ONTHE FLAME came closest
to a win for us just getting beat in a photo against his
sister Westcountry Lady - another dog worth keeping on the
right side of.
On Thursday both BLACKMAGIC GUY and COOLANGA FLYER ran well
in their semi of the KEITH JOHNSON EASTER CUP at Perry Barr.
BLACKMAGIC GUY came second to make it through to Monday's £5000
final.
We had near misses at Walthamstow on Thursday's Open Card
with NIL FINANCE, BOX OF TRICKS, ARMIES PLAN and ROSWELL
BLUESKY all running well in defeat.
WALTHAMSTOW REVIEW
On Monday a bitch we mentioned last week - RAGGA DIVA - popped
up to win again in a useful 29.25 (+10) and is a bitch that
is clearly in form at the moment.
Tuesday night saw the debut win for Head Kennelhand Pete
Vernon's aptly-named bitch MARATHON GIRL which saw her open
her account in a time of 29.43.
On Saturday night at the Stow it was great to see Dick and
Ann Barfoot's dog SPECIAL DEAL win the top grade race in
28.97.
WHATS ON THIS WEEK
Monday night sees BLACKMAGIC GUY contest the KEITH JOHNSON
EASTER CUP FINAL at Perry Barr. It would be great to see
this multi-finalist win a big event. On the supporting card
we have some interesting runners: GO COMMANDO who has returned
very well from a long lay-off, promising pup DIRECTORS WISH,
in form RONNIES HARE and Perry Barr track record holder RAGING
JACK.
Thursday night sees all Open action at the Stow with the
last batch of Trial Stakes for the OCEAN TRAILERS PUPPY STAKES
taking place. We expect DIRECTORS CHAIR, BUTTERBRIDGE ALI,
KILLER KEANE, CENTAUR DECREE and the Bubbly Club's new purchase
BUBBLY MAGIC all to put their claims forward for this puppy
event.
Friday sees the start of the GOLDEN SPRINT at Romford where
we hope to have ROSWELL STARSHIP entered.
