Dear Mark ,Team & Keefe family ,
My heart goes out to you all. I know how awful having such a sickening injury is . Driving the van with an appallingly injured dog in the back is heartbreaking . I expect lots of trainers have made a note of your vet's name, he sounds exceptionally dedicated. . My own dog was repaired by by Sorrell & her team at Cambridge Veterinary school ( front leg obliterated) . Eighteen months on he is doing remarkably well ,he runs round the paddocks ,plays ball & generally has a lovely life . From the sounds of it Frankie will soon be doing the same .
Best wishes and lots of luck with your remaining derby contenders. Bernadette Warren

Dear Mark,
This is Jim Crossley owner of Windy Millar, I am so sorry to hear of your devastating news my trainer Pat Rosney rang and told me. Good luck for the future mate and please tell John and all your staff how sorry I am. |

Dear Mark and Staff
As an avid follower of your column and kennel it was so sad to read about
Eye on the Storm's injury on Thursday night. I truly wish him a full
recovery and I hopefully he can return to prove the champion that we all
know he is.
Yours sincerely

Mark, I felt I had to write to convey my sincere feelings of sadness that Eye Onthe Storm was unable to see out his first round heat of The Derby.
I am sure that I can speak for all lovers of Greyhound Racing that any injury, to any dog, no matter their status is really upsetting. Obviously so soon after the event news is a bit thin on the ground. However, I am sure you will keep both your followers and fans of "Frankie" informed of his wellbeing. Please pass on our kindest and warmest regards to all connections, especially to your on site staff who must have felt devestated and so lovingly cared for the Dog. I can honestly say that despite my love of the sport I am glad that I was not at Wimbledon to witness such a sad event.
After the sad early end to Bomber Bailey's career hopefully this double blow will have a better outcome, we hope and pray that it does.
Being the absolute professional that you are, strongly supported by a great team (not least your Mother-In-Law, how many men can say that !) It goes without saying that you will do the best for Frankie.
It is difficult to think of positives at the moment about last night but Eye Eye Pickle did the business and is in "The Hat" as is Blond Banjo the very lightly raced newcomer (was it really 1000/1 ?)
Very best of luck with your Friday and Saturday potential qualifiers and once again our very best wishes for a positive outcome.
As always,
Edwin Woodley and long suffering wife Sally.

Hi Mark
Just wanted to put on record my thanks to you and all of your staff for getting little "Elvis" a.k.a Bim Bam Boozle through to the Peterborough Puppy Derby Final.
He ran a blinder and it's been so enjoyable having a pup to follow again and to be able to enjoy these moments with family and friends.
Believe it or not it's been 10 Years since Sonas Phantom made the Leger Final. The years have passed quickly so I make sure I cherish these moments, Wednesday at Peterborough was a very good day.
Best Regards

Hi Mark, many congratulations to you and the whole of your TEAM on winning the Trainers Championship meeting at Doncaster. That was so well deserved.
Your dogs always look a picture on parade plus you and your excellent Team are not afraid to travel to the right track for the appropriate greyhound(s) in your kennel. If a Wallis trained greyhound needs a trial at a track before race you can be sure this will happen.
You are a real credit to your profession leaving nothing to chance long may your success continue. When interviewed on tv or in press you always come over so well putting both your dogs and your staff ahead of yourself.
Now if only we can ensure the GBGB hierarchy listen to what top professionals like you have say then we will see our beloved sport move positively forward.
Mark all the very best I'll no doubt see you on the open race circuit.
Regards,
Keith Hall |

Dear Mark
I understand from Alun Watkins that you were awarded a charity bet by Betfair on the winner of Trainers Championship Night at Doncaster , and you won!
Congratulations on both counts - winning the title and the bet, and thank you for offering it to donate half your winnings to Action Medical Research, we really appreciate it.
Thank you again
Kind regards

Dear Mr. Wallis and Team,
Congratulations and a superb well done on winning the Trainers' Championship. You must be so proud of your Team and I hope they spend their share of the spoils wisely !
Further to my previous email I took your advice on your newsletter and had a bet at 3/1. What a nail biting finish ! Sally was confident going into the last race but although Eye On The Storm was for me unbeatable much depended on the placings. All went well and as with any bet that brings us a "few quid" the retired greyhounds will get a bung.
It was a shame to see Aero Bolt come to grief and we really hope he isn't too sore. Also, Kinda Easy obviously has no liking for Doncaster. What a diiference there would have been had he trapped ?. Good things to come I do not doubt.
Still, thanks again and now I have to pour Sally a large Baileys .....I do not drink any more but as I do not drink any less will force myself to a large Scotch......Good Health and Well Done.

Dear Mr. Wallis and Team,
Very sorry to see Directors Spur finish in last place in the Monmore Final. I had taken the 50/1 antepost and when this puppy reached the final from a good draw I was really hopefull that he would finish in the first four. This would have been a nice return.
Such is life and greyhound racing. I sincerely hope the dog finished sound. He is very young and has not had the best of starts. From such beginnings come future champions and I will follow his career with interest.
We look forward to next tuesday's Trainers Championship and it goes without saying that we will be flying the Imperial Kennels flag. My Wife and I are not owners but love the Sport and have done for many years. I can go back to Oxford in the mid 1960s, what tales could be told.
I was a bit disappointed when we watched "The Dogs" on Sky, Thursday 18th of March. Lovely setting and the meal looked fantastic. With such settings I would have expected a bit of "bon ami". Had the Interviewer not pushed the point I don't think Charlie Lister would have given your team a mention for the Trainers' Championship. Yes, Fear Zafonic was Greyhound of the year. A bit of luck in running is vital, e.g. last night ! Kinda Ready did the business on the night (thank God) and came from behind to take the Trophy and the Cash.
No mention that you will be running the current Greyhound Derby champ and his brother The St. Ledger winner. Competition is what the sport is about but recognising others achievement shows real class.
Good Luck for next Tuesday.
Kindest Regards
Edwin Woodley and long suffering Wife Sally. |

Well done for the St. Leger victory. I was so pleased now it will give all the people that thought the ability of Kinda Ready winning the Derby, something to choke about. Now Kinda Easy has proved this was a great litter, and two great champions.
Congratulations once again. Raymond Hirst (Spain) |

Mark,
Just a note to say well done to you, Sarah and all the team at Imperial on another incredible training performance. Even I'm getting to like Wimbledon now! You are much better placed to know than me, but having watched his races at Coventry online I truly believe the seeds of the victory were sown on those Sunday nights getting his confidence up and then stretching him out the 'long 6'. If you can improve mine 5 lengths you will truly be the perfect trainer! All the best.

Hej Mark
First I would like to congratulate you with the two fine wins in the Derby and William Hill Classic - it must be a dream come true.
You were right when you said Smiler (Jonos Patience) would be very good at the 260m straight track in Odense. Saturday he just won the biggest race in Denmark, the Danish Open - he just destroyed the field with his early pace and won by 4 lengths.
Thank you for letting us buy this great dog, he is sure to do great things in the future.
Good luck with your racing, hope that you will have great success in the remaining season.
Best regards
