Beautifully bred greyhound being out of our former 'Queen of the Stow' Star Of Dromin who after a slow start to his career (beaten in his first four A6's) has blossomed in to a top open racer. With Walthamstow closing and after two months off with a shoulder injury 'Robbie' was put through his paces at new home of Harlow winning his first race there an inter-track in 26.24. In his following race, a heat of a Monkey Maiden, he won by no fewer than 17 lengths in 25.98 but a bad draw in the final cost him any chance.
T he decision to take him to Hall Green for the £15,000 to the winner British Breeders Forum Produce Stakes was the making of this all round paced wide runner as he marched into the final unbeaten with a flying 28.32 to his name. Although running well in the final he could only finish a close up 4th but bounced back to winning ways in an open at Coventry in 29.65.
After a couple of defeats the owners decided to sell him to stay in the kennel only and despite a decent price tag my two good friends Dan Daley and Paul Ephremsen stepped in to buy this talented dog. A couple of unlucky losses in between a flying 27.57 trial at Wimbledon wasn't the best start for his new connections but a win on Sky on Oaks Final night at Wimbledon banished any disappointments and after a short break another win on Sky at Hall Green justified the purchase.
Set for a great year his plan is to go to Swindon for the Arc and then the Blue Riband at Hall Green before the Derby which at around 200-1 could be worth an interest. In between these events he would be one of our main runners at Sheffield for the Trainers Championship meeting.
